The Adaptive Value of Religious Ritual

It was interesting to see the many contrasts and similarities between religions. Some differ incredibly while others were amazingly close. I don't know if I would give up gambling, meat, alcohol, as well as many of other things on the list, well...I know I wouldn't. Religion has never been a big influence on my life, I respect that of others, but honestly, I don't see why one would give up life's pleasures for something that has yet to be proven.
