This article made me see that caregiving when it come to infants is as diverse as culture itself.Many different culures provide care for babies in many different ways.Some cultures such as the want in Konga take on the old addage it takes a village to raise a child in the way that the babies may be fed and cared for by one of any of the mothers in the group.The japanese seem to take a very authoritative roll in infant care such as waking a sleeping baby to show who's in charge.The dutch like to put a premium on rest as far as thrier main objective in childcare,and may ecven leave a sleeping baby unattended while they do shopping.There is even a group in Peru that swaddle the infant so tightly that it can barely move cover the eyes and don't inter act much at all with the infant in the way of play maintaining that a baby's primary focus is rest.Then there is a method that is all to familliar to me where childcare is thust upon sibings that are only a few years older.I don't feel like it is up to me to question or judge anyone for which of these methods they use with in thier culture to care for there children.
