Give Up On Words

Initially not speaking to strangers may seem rude to those accustomed to modern American culture, but after this article it seems downright responsible. By delaying the introduction both parties get to observe the other in a more low-pressure situation therefore enabling them to get a more "pure" sense of who the other person is. Also, more importantly, they get to observe each other interacting socially with others, giving them an even more accurate impression of "who" this stranger is. I think that my choice of acquaintances might improve if I talked less and observed a lot more during initial meetings, though whether or not this would be well received I can't be sure.
