Strange Country This

I really enjoyed reading about the gender diversity in North America especially given the U.S. desire to keep gender strictly male and female. The quote by a Crow tribal elder, "We don't waste people the way white society does. Every person has their gift." I feel, really points out how our society doesn't fully appreciate people for who they are. Instead, we try so hard to fit people into categories and by doing so we prevent males with "female" talents such as crafting, cooking, ext. from being able to express their full potential and vice versa. The Crow tribe, in particular, it seems had an interesting understanding of gender that I think promotes healthier living and the U.S. would do good to consider their beliefs.
