Pocahontas Goes to the Clinic

Being a mother of two small children, I have felt the stress and insanity of taking my children to the ER or even just a routine check up. The pediatrician I chose for my family has a tendency to keep popsicles and Disney stickers close, especially on immunization days. On page 88 of the article, the author really caught my attention when she began to discuss sickle cell anemia, and the unfortunate mistreating of African American children due to their social status, and pain levels. Aren't physicians supposed to treat patients equally, regardless of race, social status, and don't they deserve a proper assessment?
