Just Another Job

I thought this article was a really interesting subject. I think the author did a really great job of highlighting the good and the bad of having housekeepers, having them live in, and issues with immigration and power. It really helped me think through issues with housekeeping that I never would have thought of before. This article brought up a lot of questions within me and didn't really leave me with any answers. While jobs such as being a live in nanny help immigrants find places to live and get established in a new country it also establishes a ranking of employer over employee, promotes racist beliefs and unhealthy life styles. All in all I'd have to say housekeeping as a profession is seriously flawed and reflects unhealthy characteristics of American society.
