Just Another Job

I liked this article. I liked the connection between the price of emotional labor. If you get let go from your au pair job, do you get visitation rights? Should you? I think the acts of "power" were horrible. I never realized the "convenience" of a someone who lived in the home; the idea that the person would be available all hours of the day no matter what. When reading about the married people in the UK that hire a cleaner once they have children, I had mixed feelings about it. I liked the idea of transcending the "traditional" approach to housework, but at the same time it sends the message that people have to get paid to do that work.
